چکیده

In order to create a good 3D reconstruction from an image, shape information of the object of interest is needed. One way to acquire it is based on the shading information. This can be solved using the Shape from Shading method. Unfortunately this method has some drawbacks, namely the depth ambiguity problems. Two points which have the same intensity will have the same depth, although in reality they have different depth. Color also plays an important role. Some color generates higher intensity than the others. This makes the resulting output of the system to reconstruct the object incorrectly. We propose a color segmentation based depth adjustment to overcome this problem. First we cluster the image into color clusters. Based on this color cluster we will adjust the depth of vertices belonging to the higher intensity cluster accordingly. The proposed method can reduce the effect of the depth ambiguities.

Using a Color Reflection Model to Separate Highlights from Object Color

Current methods for image segmentation are confused by artifacts such as highlights, because they are not based on any physical model of these phenomena. In this paper, we present an approach to color image understanding that accounts for color variations due to highlights and shading. Based on the physics of reflection by dielectric materials, such as plastic, we show that the color of every p...

Coupled Sparse Dictionary for Depth-Based Cup Segmentation from Single Color Fundus Image

We present a novel framework for depth based optic cup boundary extraction from a single 2D color fundus photograph per eye. Multiple depth estimates from shading, color and texture gradients in the image are correlated with Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) based depth using a coupled sparse dictionary, trained on image-depth pairs. Finally, a Markov Random Field is formulated on the depth ma...

Image Retrieval from an Engineering Database using Shape and Depth Feature

Content based image retrieval is a technique which uses visual contents like shape, color and texture to retrieve images from large scale image databases. In content based image retrieval shape is one of the primitive feature for image retrieval. Many images are classified and detected based on shape description. In this paper we present the methods for retrieving images from the large database...

A Combined Approach on RBC Image Segmentation through Shape Feature Extraction

The classification of erythrocyte plays an important role in clinic diagnosis. In terms of the fact that the shape deformability of red blood cell brings more difficulty in detecting and recognize for operating automatically, we believed that the recovered 3D shape surface feature would give more information than traditional 2D intensity image processing methods. This paper proposed a combined ...

Highlight and Shading Invariant Color Image Segmentation Using Simulated Annealing

Color constancy in color image segmentation is an important research issue. In this paper we develop a framework, based on the Dichromatic Re ection Model for asserting the color highlight and shading invariance, and based on a Markov Random Field approach for segmentation. A given RGB image is transformed into a R'G'B' space to remove any highlight components, and only the vector-angle compone...
